My last system was 5 years old and did what it was supposed to. Soften the water. I recommend almost using up the salt in the container before refilling 2 bags. In the first year I constantly refilled with the result that a solid layer about 3 cm thick formed at the bottom. I had to laboriously break it open and remove it. The manufacturer's service gave me the tip.
