Full demineralization using mixed bed resins
Full desalination is even more thorough than reverse osmosis because it filters out any alkaline earth salts. In contrast to water softening, cations and anions are removed. The result of full demineralization is the purest water (deionized water), which leaves no residue and is slightly acidic due to the lack of alkaline earth salts and does not conduct electricity.
Due to its properties, demineralised water is mainly suitable for industrial purposes as it can be used to clean surfaces without leaving any traces. Examples of this would be solar cells, car washes or any other large business. A mixed-bed cartridge can also be advantageous in the catering sector, as industrial dishwashers often reuse the same water, which always has to be cleaned and must not leave any stains on glasses and dishes.
Mixed-bed cartridges are unsuitable for producing drinking water because they remove all of the important components for drinking water. Due to this lack of substances, carbonic acid is no longer blocked, which leads to a low pH value (below 7 pH). The water is acidic and harmful to health in the long term. Depending on your needs, a softening, disinfection, denitrification or osmosis system is suitable for cleaning your drinking water.
Our mixed bed cartridges can be connected to softening and reverse osmosis systems, but also work independently. However, when used with untreated water, the mixed bed cartridge wears out more quickly, which is why it needs to be serviced much more often. When connected to one of our systems, the cartridge is only flushed with purified water, which is why the cartridges last significantly longer.

Answer: The resin in this filter system is designed for a pH range of 5 to 9, meaning it should work even at a pH of 6, where the water is slightly acidic. However, you should note that although the resin can work in this pH range, slightly acidic water (pH 6) is not ideal for use as drinking water. In the long term, acidic water can cause corrosion in pipes and affect the taste of the water. If you plan to use the filtered water as drinking water, it is recommended to also install a deacidification system. Such a system can increase the pH of the water and make it more neutral, which is not only beneficial for iron filtration but also improves the quality of drinking water and protects your plumbing.
