Full desalination is a special type of water treatment . During demineralization, all salts are removed from the water. Demineralized water can be produced in several ways:

A reverse osmosis system is usually the preliminary stage and full desalination is completed using ion exchange. With reverse osmosis , a conductance of 5 – 10 μs (microSiemens) is achieved. Depending on the requirements, the fully desalinated water should have a conductance value of less than 0 μs. To achieve this, a mixed bed cartridge is used after reverse osmosis . Ion exchange removes the remaining salts from the water.
