Our water softeners for single-family homes and small households are compact, economical and affordable. The systems are installed directly after the water meter and thus ensure lime-free water throughout the house. The neutral exchange process is used in our systems. This proven process ensures that the pH value of the water is not affected.
Which softening system do I need for my single-family home?
Basically, you have the choice between two system variants for a single-family home. The variant with one column (Basic) and the variant with two softening columns (Duplex).
The FILTRASOFT Basic model consists of a softening column and works extremely economically with the Eco Inject System. The low price makes it worth purchasing even for smaller households. In our worry-free package we offer you the softening system including assembly, connection set and salt supply.
Duplex water softening systems are for larger households. A second softener column provides you with soft water around the clock. Duplex water softening systems are recommended if you often shower at night or need to fill an additional swimming pool.
How do I find the right descaling system?
If you have decided on one of the above options, the capacity of the system still needs to be determined. This is comparable to the capacity of a battery. When this is used up, the system has to “recharge” itself again. When it comes to softening systems, we speak of regeneration. The more water you use, the larger the capacity must be so that the system does not have to constantly regenerate. To make your selection as easy as possible, you can use our capacity calculator .

Which accessories do I need?
In addition to the system, a connection set is recommended. This contains a connection fitting specifically for softening systems, which is installed in your pipeline. The system is connected to this fitting via two flexible hoses (also included in the set). The connection fitting has a bypass function, which means that the system can easily be removed from the mains in the event of a fault. Direct piping is expressly not recommended. The connection set also contains a suitable wastewater hose, as your descaling system produces wastewater during regeneration. A measuring utensil for measuring water hardness is also included.
Do I need to refill or replace anything during operation?
Our systems require special softening salt to operate. This must be refilled regularly and the system should never be operated without salt. During regeneration, the salt is flushed into the system to “recharge” the exchange resin. Apart from the salt, there is no need to regularly replace or top up anything on the system, but DIN recommends regular maintenance every 12 months.
Does the system need regular maintenance?
As already mentioned, DIN recommends carrying out maintenance every 12 months at the latest. This should be carried out by a specialist, but in principle it can also be carried out by the operator in a single-family home. During maintenance, the system is checked for function and leaks, disinfected and cleaned.

Product: DUPLEX water softening system in a carefree package
Answer: There is no obligation for such a measurement because the water complies with the Drinking Water Ordinance either way. As a rule, it is sufficient to check the system every 12 months as part of maintenance.
Product: BASIC softening plant
Answer: This is a complex topic that is controversially discussed on the Internet. The first thing that should be mentioned is that these days mainly plastic pipes are used and no corrosion is to be expected. When water is softened using ion exchange, no CO2 is released and the pH value of the water is not changed. This would look different if the water was treated using reverse osmosis, for example. It is known that copper pipes are subject to a certain degree of corrosion regardless of the quality of drinking water. However, this corrosion is usually so low that copper is considered a durable material. The low corrosion rate of copper in drinking water results from the formation of a coating on the surface of the material consisting of various copper compounds. This layer is reinforced by small amounts of embedded lime, which increases its anti-corrosion effect. In softened water, this limescale deposit is missing, which can reduce the protective function of the top layer. Nevertheless, the protective effect is sufficiently strong to generally prevent corrosion damage over human generations. In summary, there is no absolute freedom from corrosion in copper pipes in drinking water systems. Although water softening has an influence on the protective top layer in the pipes, it only has a negligible impact on their service life. If you had problems with corrosion before installing a softening system, then you should think about installing a dosing system or replacing the pipes.
Product: DUPLEX softening plant
Answer: The DUPLEX softening system is designed so that the wastewater resulting from regeneration is drained away efficiently, even without the use of an additional pump. Thanks to the plant's advanced design and efficient use of existing water pressure, it is able to pump wastewater to a height of up to 2.5 meters. This capability allows for flexible installation of the system as the wastewater hose can be connected directly to a higher wastewater pipe without the need for additional pumping devices. This represents a significant advantage by expanding installation options while keeping operating costs low as no additional energy is required for a wastewater pump. However, please use an open system such as a funnel for the wastewater connection (the hose must be attached to prevent it from slipping out).

Answer: There are a few requirements that must be met so that the resin is not damaged (for example the correct pH value). For this reason, the systems are generally only suitable for drinking water. However, the exact values are important and there are options to adjust the values beforehand if desired. In such cases, we would be happy to make you an individual offer.
