Permeat
Permeate is the technical term for the product water that is created by the
reverse osmosis process. The permeate usually has a
conductance of 1 – 10 µS. This means that the electrical conductivity is very low. Basically, this is the precursor to demineralized or fully desalinated water. The requirement for such product water exists in various areas of application, including in the medical sector or in car washing (for the final rinse cycle). Permeate only contains a very small amount of salts, which are dissolved in the water. The remaining salt content is released into the
wastewater during
reverse osmosis ; the
wastewater is called
concentrate .
