According to an information sheet from Bafa, water softening systems and their installation can be subsidized by the state from January 1, 2021. One of the conditions is the installation of an efficient heat generator in existing buildings.
The aim of the "Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings - Individual Measures" (BEG EM) is to stimulate investment in individual measures that increase energy efficiency and the share of renewable energies in final energy consumption for heating and cooling in buildings in Germany and reduce CO2 emissions in the building sector in Germany. It is not necessary to achieve a (new) efficiency house or efficiency building level through the individual measures funded by this directive. The funding program is financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

How do I apply for funding?
- The application must be submitted before the start of the project (the start is considered to be the conclusion of a contract with the contractor)
