The fittings still have stains despite the decalcification system

We are often asked why stains still appear on the fittings (e.g. in the shower) despite installing a descaling system.

These stains are of course unsightly, but there can be several reasons for this:

Drinking water does not dry without leaving residue

Important: A softening system removes calcium and magnesium, which lead to limescale when they dry. By law, drinking water in Germany may contain many other substances that may not dry without leaving residue. In addition, you must not forget that you are putting substances into the water in the shower, such as shower gel, which may not dry off without leaving any residue.

Therefore: A softening system is not a cleaning lady ;-)

Limescale no longer forms, but that doesn't mean you don't have to clean anymore. Of course, you will need to wipe down your faucets occasionally. However, the residue is usually much easier to remove than lime.

The residual hardness is set too high

Are the stains actually limescale? A common reason can also be excessive residual hardness. If you set the residual hardness too high (values above 4 °dH), then of course there will be a certain amount of calcium and magnesium in the water. This means that limescale can form again. Rumors are often spread, such as that a water softener would change its pH value or that soft water is unhealthy. But we can reassure you: Our systems work with the neutral exchange process and do not change the pH value of the water. Please read more about residual hardness here

The descaling system is not working properly

If the stains are actually limescale stains, it may be that the built-in descaling system is either not set correctly or is not working at all. We have summarized the possible causes for you here .
