How a PENTA multi-filter system works

The Penta filter systems from Alfiltra work with a special filter material that can filter a total of five different substances from the water. The Penta filter systems remove the following undesirable substances from your water:

The advantage of this filter technology: The iron removal system works with ion exchange. This process has proven itself millions of times in softening systems and is also used in these filter systems. Alfiltra Penta systems are controlled by a central control valve, which has the entire water treatment process under control.

This means: the water treatment system works completely automatically. All you have to do is regularly refill the salt that the system needs for regeneration (usually every 2 - 3 months, depending on water consumption and water hardness).

Iron removal How it works

The way iron removal works is based on the ion exchange process. This means that the filter material of the water treatment system binds the undesirable substances and releases harmless sodium into the water. Iron, manganese, calcium and magnesium bind directly to the exchange material because they have a stronger bond than sodium. This ensures reliable water treatment.

As soon as the “sodium storage” of the exchange material is used up, the system must initiate regeneration. The regeneration is carried out automatically by the control valve. By flushing with salt (sodium chloride), the substances iron, manganese, calcium and magnesium are flushed out of the salt into the wastewater in conjunction with the chloride. The sodium binds back to the exchanger material so that water treatment can take place reliably again.
