Filter cartridges are filter inserts whose appearance is very reminiscent of candles. These are plastic filters that are inserted into special filter housings. Since the candles filter primarily mechanically, they must be replaced after a certain amount of water. The change interval depends on the degree of contamination and the water flow.

The decisive measure: the filter strength

Filter candles differ in their filter strength or filtration strength. The filter strength indicates how large the passages of the filter are or up to what particle size the substances are filtered. For example, a filtration thickness of 10 µm indicates that all solids with a minimum size of 10 µm are filtered. All smaller substances “slip through” the filter and remain in the water.
