Our water softeners for single-family homes and small households are compact, economical and affordable. The systems are installed directly after the water meter and thus ensure lime-free water throughout the house. Our systems use the neutral exchange process. This tried and tested process ensures that the pH value of the water is not affected.
Which water softening system do I need for my single-family home?
Basically, you have the choice between two system variants for a single-family home: the variant with one column (Basic) and the variant with two softening columns (Duplex).
The FILTRASOFT Basic model consists of a water softener column and works extremely economically with the Eco Inject System. The low price makes it worthwhile even for smaller households. In our worry-free package, we offer you the water softener including installation, connection set and salt supply.
Duplex water softening systems are for larger households. A second softening column means you have soft water available around the clock. Duplex water softening systems are recommended if you often shower at night or need to fill an additional swimming pool.
How do I find the right decalcification system?
If you have decided on one of the above options, you still need to determine the capacity of the system. This is comparable to the capacity of a battery. When this is used up, the system needs to "recharge" again. This is called regeneration in water softening systems. The more water you use, the larger the capacity you need to choose so that the system does not have to constantly regenerate. To make the selection as easy as possible for you, you can use our capacity calculator .

What accessories do I need?
In addition to the system, a connection set is recommended. This contains a connection fitting specifically for water softening systems, which is installed in your pipes. The system is connected to this fitting via two flexible hoses (also included in the set). The connection fitting has a bypass function, which means that the system can be easily disconnected from the mains in the event of a fault. Direct piping is expressly not recommended. The connection set also contains a suitable waste water hose, as your water softening system produces waste water during regeneration. A measuring device for measuring water hardness is also included.
Do I need to refill or replace anything during operation?
Our systems require special softening salt to operate. This must be refilled regularly and the system should never be operated without salt. The salt is flushed into the system during regeneration to "recharge" the exchange resin. Apart from the salt, there is no need to regularly replace or refill anything in the system, but the DIN recommends regular maintenance every 12 months.
Does the system need to be maintained regularly?
As already mentioned, DIN recommends carrying out maintenance every 12 months at the latest. This should be carried out by a specialist, but in principle it can also be carried out by the operator in a single-family home. During maintenance, the system is checked for functionality and leaks, disinfected and cleaned.

Product: BASIC water softening system
The resin cartridges in your Basic 40 softening system generally do not need to be replaced because they regenerate themselves. The regeneration of the resin is an automated process that takes place during the cleaning cycles of the system. Here are some details:
Regeneration process: During regeneration, the resin is flushed with a salt solution, which dissolves and removes the accumulated calcium and magnesium ions (which are responsible for water hardness) from the resin. This “renews” the resin and can be used effectively to soften water again.
Regular cleaning: This regeneration is carried out regularly, depending on the amount of water used and the hardness of the water. In a 4-person household with a water hardness of 20° dH, the system will regenerate more frequently to ensure efficiency.
No replacement necessary: As long as the system is properly maintained and the regenerating salt is topped up regularly, the resin cartridges do not need to be replaced. However, you should regularly inspect and maintain the system to ensure its longevity and optimal performance.
In summary, the resin cartridges in your Basic 40 system are maintained effectively by the built-in regeneration process and therefore do not require regular replacement.

It is best to let the salt empty until the water is visible.
Then refill and ideally not full to the brim so that there is not too much weight on the salt.
If you keep filling the container without waiting until you see the water at the bottom, clumps can occur.

According to the DIN standard, maintenance should be carried out by a specialist at least every 12 months to ensure optimal function and safety of the system.
However, our water softening systems are designed to be so reliable that many customers carry out regular checks themselves. As long as the system is working properly and no problems occur, there are no legal requirements that make maintenance mandatory. Nevertheless, we recommend checking the system regularly and calling in a specialist if necessary to ensure long-term safety and efficiency.
