Why a pre-filter?
We generally recommend that you install a pre-filter before every filter system (if not already installed). A pre-filter protects your filter system from dirt particles that could damage the filter material. Backwashable filters are generally associated with lower follow-up costs, but they can only filter up to a certain filter strength. As the name suggests, fine filters can filter more finely, but with the disadvantage that the cartridges have to be changed regularly.
When filtering drinking water that complies with the Drinking Water Ordinance, it can usually be assumed that a domestic water filter is sufficient. Fine filters are required, for example, for well water or in front of industrial reverse osmosis systems.
