The biodosimetrically tested UV systems from the Spektron series meet all requirements for safe and environmentally friendly drinking water disinfection in accordance with Section 11 of the German Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV 2001). They are certified according to the strict guidelines of ÖNORM (M 5873-1) and DVGW (W 294-2).

The WEDECO Spektron series offers a wide range of applications from domestic water supply to industrial applications right up to municipal waterworks with throughputs of several 1,000 m3/h per UV system. The systems are equipped with energy-efficient WEDECO high-performance low-pressure UV lamps and the latest generation of electronic ballasts.

The reactor design ensures easy installation in a wide range of space conditions. The special feature is the consistent optimization of the hydraulic properties using the OptiCone flow straightener. This means that the irradiation capacity of each UV lamp is optimally utilized and the pressure loss is kept extremely low.

The advantages at a glance
  • Certified and tested according to DVGW, SVGW and ÖVGW
  • Energy-efficient WEDECO UV lamps and electronic ballasts
  • OptiDoseâ„¢ power control for optimal adjustment of UV intensity and reduction of energy consumption
  • Particularly low operating costs and reduced pressure losses thanks to efficient flow control
  • Continuous self-monitoring of UV intensity and reactor temperature, combined with a powerful control system
  • Variable installation position for easy integration into existing piping systems
  • Possible bus connections: Profibus DP, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP

Answer: Yes, the devices in the Aquada series meet the technical specifications, but the manufacturer has not presented them for certification by the DVGW. This is only the case with devices in the Spektron series. These are DVGW certified. If you would like to use a system from the Aquada series, you must first clarify with your responsible authority (health department) whether the use of such a device is recognized.

Answer: The disinfection of cloudy water with a UV disinfection system, such as the Spektron UV system with DVGW certification, may be limited. Here are some points to consider: Effectiveness in case of turbidity: The effectiveness of UV disinfection depends heavily on the clarity of the water. Cloudy water can absorb or scatter UV rays, making them less effective at inactivating microorganisms. Particles in water can "hide" microorganisms, meaning they are not exposed to the full intensity of UV radiation. Pre-filtration recommended: For effective UV disinfection of cloudy water, pre-filtration is usually recommended to reduce turbidity. By removing particles and suspended matter in the water, UV radiation can work more efficiently. Checking water quality: Before using a UV disinfection system, water quality, including turbidity, should be checked. Regular Maintenance: To ensure effective disinfection, it is important to regularly maintain and clean the UV lamp and quartz housing, as deposits on these parts can also affect UV transmission. In summary, although it is possible to disinfect cloudy water with a UV system, it may be necessary to perform additional steps such as pre-filtration to ensure the effectiveness of the disinfection.
