The water softener is not softening/descaled – what can I do?

Are the entrance and exit reversed?

Please pay attention to the arrows on the terminal block and on the system.

If yes: Please ensure correct installation. If no: Proceed to the next step.

Is there enough salt in the salt container?

The system can only regenerate if there is salt in the salt container.

If no: Please refill the salt; if yes: Proceed to the next step.

Is the blending unit closed?

To eliminate all possible sources of error, please close the intersection. Turn counterclockwise: closes the intersection; clockwise: opens the intersection;

When the blending valve is closed, the water hardness at the system outlet should be 0° dH. Please measure with running water. If the water hardness is not 0° dH, proceed to the next step.

Is the middle tap on the connection block closed? If the middle tap of the bypass valve is open, the water is diverted around the system. If so: Close the middle tap and open the two outer taps. The problem will then be solved.

Have you run enough water through the system?

Depending on where the water hardness is measured, the water must first travel the distance from the system to the measuring point.

First, let as much water flow as possible before measuring the water hardness. Do this before every measurement!

No improvement? Please continue.

Does the color of the test set immediately turn green?

Only then will you have a water hardness of 0 °dH.

If no: Either the test kit has expired or the blending valve is open. If neither of these applies, the system has not regenerated. Please continue.

Is your test set newer than 2 years old?

The test kits have an expiration date.

If no: Please order a new water hardness test kit from us. If yes: Proceed to the next point.

Did the system have water available at the time of regeneration?

The system also needs water during regeneration.

If no: Please ensure that the water supply is not shut off during regeneration. If yes: Proceed to the next point.

Can the water drain freely through the drain hose?

The wastewater must be able to flow freely, otherwise the system cannot regenerate.

Please ensure that the drain hose is not kinked and that the water can flow freely. The system can pump the wastewater upwards once, but after that, there should be no further incline. Also check if any backflow preventer is open.

When did the system last regenerate?

Our systems are generally designed to regenerate every three days. However, every system should regenerate at least every seven days.

If the last regeneration was more than a week ago, something is wrong. With running water, the display should show "Softening" (click valve / gray display) or a drop (spot valve / blue display). If this is not the case, the water meter is probably defective. Please try the next step.

Trigger a manual regeneration (spot valve: press and hold the diamond button for 5 seconds; clack valve: press and hold the rain button for 5 seconds). Does the system work again afterwards?

If the water meter is defective, the system must still be softened again after a manual regeneration.

If the system does not soften even after manual regeneration, please check the next steps.

What is the water level in the brine tank?

Should it be between 25 and 30 cm depending on the layout and the amount of salt tablets?

If the water level is high, this can have various causes. In this case, please contact our customer service.

Is the brine extracted during regeneration?

The system should extract most of the brine approximately 40 minutes after the regeneration process begins.

If no: Please contact our customer service.

Have you followed all the previous instructions?

If the system does not soften after manual regeneration, even though all previous points have been observed, there is probably a fault in the ion exchange resin.

In this case, the collection basket was probably not installed correctly and the resin was washed out. The resin can be refilled, but the collection basket should definitely be checked. Please contact our customer service in any case.
