Iron filter

An iron filter is a special filter unit used to remove iron from water. Iron in water can cause discoloration, metallic taste, and damage plumbing and household appliances. Iron filters often work by oxidation, which converts the dissolved iron into solid particles that are then captured by the filter. In cases where the iron is not yet oxidized, ion exchangers can also be used. These exchange iron ions in the water for other ions (e.g. sodium) to remove the iron. They are particularly useful in regions with high iron concentrations in groundwater or well water, and help improve water quality.
